Desjardins Insurance Introduces Ajusto to Help Save on Car Insurance

Desjardins Insurance has launched Ajusto, which offers consumers the opportunity to control savings on their car insurance.  In addition to existing discounts, the program can help save up to an additional 25 percent off consumers’ premiums.

The following three elements are measured by Ajusto, in order to determine a driver’s savings:
  • Distance traveled annually (up to 10 percent off)
  • Extent and frequency of hard braking and acceleration (up to 10 percent off)
  • The time of day the vehicle is driven (up to 5 percent off)
Ajusto customers will receive a small wireless telematics device and will have secure access to a personalized online dashboard.  Through this device, they will be able to track their driving habits and insurance savings. The device is approximately the same size of a cellphone and customers receive simple installation instructions, typically installed under the steering wheel. The data is updated on a daily basis and the discount is calculated monthly.

The free, voluntary Ajusto program is available to drivers in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario who own cars manufactured in 1998 or later. There are exceptions to a few limited makes and models; however, a solution is in the works.

City of North Vancouver Introduces Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Three new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed in the City of North Vancouver for public use.  The Level 2 stations can charge two automobiles in adjacent parking spaces at the same time – otherwise known as "dual head."

Producing 240 Volts of electricity, the stations can fully charge and EV in four to six hours, or provide a ‘top-up’ in as little as one hour.

City of North Vancouver Mayor Darrell Mussatto highlighted that the City is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and EV technology is one of several projects the City is taking on. The City also currently offers a variety of incentives to consumers who purchase new electric vehicles.

The City plans to install further charging stations at different locations, including a DC Level 3 charging station, which can fully charge an EV in approximately 15 minutes.
