There was plenty of ground to cover as Sunshine State Chapter Chair Tim Calhoun welcomed attendees to their Annual Business Meeting (Thursday, June 20) at the headquarters of the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), in Kissimmee, FL. The facilities were graciously provided by Jim Welsh, CEO, and Ken Davis, VP of Engineering & Operations.

Not only was there chapter business to attend to, but also a very informative presentation from Chris Shaffer and Tom Nimmo from Utilimarc®.  They spoke on the subject, "Benchmarking Insights- How To Make Different Data Comparable." NAFA Trustee Debi McClendon, Fleet Manager, Syngenta, also gave an informative presentation about what’s new at NAFA and what transpired at the recent Board of Governors meeting from early-June. Michele Wetherington, CAFM, City of Volusia, concluded the sessions with an update on the CAFM program, with a mention of the scholarship program.

Plenty of NAFA-related activities were discussed including the upcoming I&E in Minneapolis, MN and the joint FLAGFA /NAFA meeting to be held in St. Pete Beach, FL.

Committee leadership issues were discussed, with Mario Guzman, CAFM, Fleet Administrator for the City of Boynton Beach continuing as Nomination Committee Chair. City of Orlando Fleet and Facilities Division Manager David Dunn will continue with Safety, and Will Massey, City of Gainesville Fleet Operations Manager, retains Reception Committee responsibilities.

After the session, chapter members were invited to tour the KUA Fleet Maintenance Facility.

Special thanks are in order for sponsors and contributors to the chapter meeting: lunch sponsor Mike Beauregard, Assistant Vice President and Utility Equipment Sales Manager, Ring Power Corporation; and Affiliates Chris Basset, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for E.J. Ward; Chris Wilson, Fleet Sales Manager for Alan Jay Chevrolet; Curtis Farris, ADESA Tampa; Tina Orwick of PHH Fleet; and Tina Kourakos, Subaru of America, who donated door prizes for the meeting.

A reminder: Utilimarc® presents quarterly benchmarking reports on select data. These reports are exclusively available to NAFA Members and NAFA Affiliates as a value-added benefit of membership. Visit the archive of reports on the NAFA site by clicking here.
