In times of emergency, people and organizations are called upon to pull together and help. This was never so true as it was in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 as NAFA, NAFA Chapters, and associates & partners pitched in to provide necessary funds for relief services for the affected. Since then the nation has again been shaken by tragic events, and although these were not naturally-occurring, they have nonetheless left a mark on the psyche of the country. NAFA asks that we pull together again to aid those affected by the terrorist action in Boston and the fertilizer factory explosion in Texas.

Announced at the opening of NAFA's I&E in Atlantic City on April 23, Executive Director Phil Russo, CAE said the Association would match the funds donated through these efforts to provide relief to victims. "These (events) were on an order of magnitude we haven't seen, much as Hurricane Sandy was, so while we want to be a part of a positive effort to make things better, just the enormity of what occurred in these areas demand we step up and do our best for them," Russo said later that day.

Since the April 23 announcement donations have been accepted, with hope that more will contribute.

On April 15, at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, two homemade explosive devices were ignited killing three and injuring over 170 others; some receiving injuries requiring amputations and other life-altering surgeries. Two days later, in an unrelated occurrence, the West Fertilizer Company storage and distribution facility in West, Texas exploded with force enough to kill 15 people, injure more than 160, and flatten more than 150 buildings in the town including schools, churches, and housing.

NAFA asks you to make a contribution or to consult your organizations to consider making a contribution to these relief-assistance efforts. We hope you will join with us at this crucial moment.
