NAFA Member Mario Guzman, CAFM, has been named Fleet Manager for Boynton Beach, FL. For the past thirteen years Guzman worked for Palm Beach County's Fleet Management division where his responsibilities included the procurement of county assets, monitoring commodity contracts, re-marketing of vehicles, and managing a repair facility. He also has volunteered on numerous local and national NAFA committees.

More recently, Guzman decided to accept the Fleet Administrator Position for the city of Boynton Beach under the direction of Christine Roberts, Assistant Public Works Director. He also called this "another defining moment in my public sector/fleet career."

Guzman attended high school at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in the Bronx, NY, where he was introduced into the automotive industry as a freshman. Stevenson at the time had one of the top automotive programs in New York City.

After relocating to West Palm Beach, FL, Guzman briefly worked for Florida’s Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a fleet technician. He then left FDOT in which he calls "a defining moment in his career," to become a Automotive Technician II for Palm Beach County. It was here that he worked as a technician for six years and was later promoted to Equipment Analyst, where his fleet career truly blossomed; he also earned his bachelor degree from Florida Atlantic University in Public Administration. Guzman was exposed to various facets of the fleet industry thanks to the management staff, including the guidance of NAFA President Douglas Weichman, CAFM.

Guzman serves as a member of NAFA and FLAGFA (Florida Association of Governmental Fleet Administrators). Never losing sight of his strong technical background, he has attained his CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) designation and maintains sixteen ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications. Additionally, Guzman is attending Florida Atlantic University, yet again, for his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

"The fleet industry has really broadened my horizons," Guzman said of his career thus far, "and combining that with public sector work, has motivated me to provide quality service to citizens."
