More than half of the recent graduates of the CAFM certification program walked across the Ferrara Theatre stage on April 23 during the 2012 I&E in St. Louis, MO, receiving recognition for their hard work and expertise of the fleet management disciplines.

NAFA welcomes thirty-one new graduates from the class of 2011-12, including four who earned the certification over that weekend. In addition, more than five hundred fleet professionals currently are signed up, and since the program’s inception, close to three hundred have completed it overall.

"One day, I hope everyone here will be able to stand and be recognized for this achievement," said Bryan Flansburg, CAFM, NAFA Vice President. "Together we’re helping to make this designation the gold standard throughout the industry."

Flansburg opened the session with gratitude for "some of the hardest working volunteers in NAFA," the members of the Certification Board. The Certification Board is comprised of Board Chair Paul Koch, CAFM; Vice Chair Bob McElheney, CAFM; Patrick Barrett, CAFM; John Brewington, CAFM; Raymond Brisby, CAFM; Amy Catalano, CAFM; Jon Crull, CAFM; Kevin Fareri, CAFM; Rachel Johnson, CAFM; Marc Knight, CAFM; Christopher Lyon, CAFM; and David Thompsen, CAFM. He also noted that this year, for the first time, NAFA will hold an additional Boot Camp in October as a stand-alone seminar. "Interest in the program has been so great that NAFA decided to offer certification students more opportunities to participate and benefit from the Boot Camp experience," he said. Plus, the Boot Camp will be back at next year’s I&E, as well.

"The number of CAFM graduates has risen greatly in the years since the Boot Camp was introduced, and I don’t believe that’s merely a coincidence," he said. "The Boot Camp works. If you are currently in the CAFM/CAFS program or are considering the program, I urge you to be part of next year’s Boot Camp. In addition to being able to ask questions to CAFM instructors
about the areas you’re struggling with, there are excellent sessions on each of the eight disciplines. Plus, you’ll be able to take your exams twice: once before the I&E and once after." Those eight disciplines include asset management, business management, financial management, fleet information management, maintenance management, risk management, vehicle fuel management, and professional development.

Congratulations to the class of 2011-12 CAFM graduates!
