Fleet managers play an important role in reducing the nation’s dependency on foreign oil.  From the use of hybrids to alternative fuels, fleets are leading the movement towards sustainable vehicles.  Whether pushed by corporate sustainability programs, government mandates, or simply a strong belief in improving the environment, fleet managers often walk a tightrope between their sustainable goals and stretched budgets.  The topic is discussed during NAFA’s 2012 Institute & Expo in an educational session entitled, Alternative Fuel Vehicle Grant Funding which offers fleet managers advice on how to get grants to help cover the costs of transitioning to a sustainable fleet.

The session takes place on Tuesday, April 24 from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO.  One of more than 60 educational sessions to be held throughout the four-day conference, Alternative Fuel Grant Funding helps fleet managers find the means to turn their good intentions into reality.

Moderated by NAFA Senior Vice President Claude Masters, CAFM, Manager Vehicle Acquisition and Fuel, Florida Power & Light, the educational session is led by Bill Van Amburg, Senior Vice President, CALSTART and Jasna Tomic, PhD, Fuels Program Manager, CALSTART.  The session covers where and how to seek grant funds to meet vehicle/equipment needs; what types of local, state, and federal funding is available to companies and organizations; and how to navigate the dreaded paperwork maze that can frighten off potential participants.

"Alternative Fuel Vehicle Grant Funding provides an excellent forum for leaders of the industry to discuss ways to make your fleet clean and green, and, more importantly, how to pay for it," said NAFA’s Executive Director Phillip E. Russo, CAE.
