Registration For NAFA's Professional Development Webinar Course Closes Today

NAFA is offering an intensive 18-hour webinar course that examines how to develop and motivate employees, work within various organizational frameworks, and adjust leadership and management techniques to fit the situation. Effective oral and written communication, so essential to management success, will also be addressed.

The webinar, NAFA's Professional Development Primer, will span six weeks, spread over twelve sessions. The webinar course will be offered online to help fleet professionals achieve their management and leadership goals.   

Experienced fleet professional Katherine Vigneau, CAFM, MBA, will be the course instructor. Each week, class will be held on both Monday and Thursday nights for ninety minutes. Monday sessions are geared toward a new lesson, and there will be assigned readings as well as questions for completion and discussion for the Thursday session. Course participants will have the new (2011) NAFA Professional Development Guide as the textbook for the course.

This webinar series is designed with those enrolled in the certification programs in mind. The Professional Development section of the certification exams is known to be difficult for many professionals. The course is vital for those who are planning on taking the written Professional Development exam on August 15.

What Will Be Covered                   
  • Individuals in Organizations: specifically motivating employees, training, assessment, and a variety of legal and administrative matters.
  • Groups: including the role of unions and what makes a team.
  • Leadership: the distinction between leaders and managers, definitions, types, and succession planning.
  • Organization Processes:  decision-making, negotiations, staffing, and conducting meetings.
  • Business Communications: details the different types of communications and various formats.
  • Ethics: ethical theories, decision-making, and codes.
