NAFA Raises Thousands For Charities During I&E
 At this past I&E in Charlotte, NAFA raised thousands of dollars for the Charlotte Habitat for Humanity and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.Prior to the start of the annual conference, dozens of NAFA Members joined LeasePlan employees in three different Habitat for Humanity projects — one which involved the demolition of a home that was owned by an elderly woman for decades and recently been condemned by the City. The project aims to rebuild the house in time for the woman to celebrate her 75th birthday in July. Volunteers tore apart pieces of the house while enjoying working outside during a beautiful day in Charlotte. For the third straight year, LeasePlan sponsored the Habitat for Humanity project by providing T-shirts and bottled water for the volunteers along with lunch and transportation to the project. When the day ended, LeasePlan and NAFA Fleet Management Association combined to provide the Charlotte Chapter of Habitat for Humanity with a sizeable donation to help the organization continue its work throughout the year. While the Habitat project involved a lot of sweat and dirty clothing, a much cleaner form of fun led to a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. NAFA utilized the conference's sold out Expo Floor to spotlight items for a Silent Auction. Attendees had the opportunity to view items on Sunday and bid on items they wanted the following day. More than 20 exhibitors offered prizes that ranged from iPads to NASCAR fan packages; Kindles, Nintendo Wii consoles, and gift cards for graphic printing and other business services. The highest bids when the auction closed on Monday at 2:00 p.m. were declared the winner with 100 percent of the revenue going straight to the Hospital. Whether people preferred getting their hands dirty or simply raise money for charity by purchasing an item for themselves or others, NAFA's 2011 Institute & Expo offered plenty of ways to help others while spending time to better their own careers. It's a win-win situation that NAFA plans to continue each year.
