Industry Canada Launches Truck Manufacturing Study

Federal Minister of Industry Tony Clement has announced that the Government of Canada will be initiating a study of Canada's medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturing sector.

Announced in early February, Clement highlighted that the study will examine the Canadian truck manufacturing sector and its suppliers, and underline the industry's strengths, weaknesses, and capacity. Additionally, the study will provide valuable insight, as well as benchmarks, to help indicate trends in the industry over time.

This information will be critical for Industry Canada going forward, as it will help support and guide the department's work related to transportation manufacturing industries across the country.

The final report is anticipated to be released in the spring of 2011.
