Police Vehicle And Equipment Decommissioning

In this panel session, learn the methods that fellow Police Fleet Managers have in place to decommission and re-market their Department’s emergency vehicles and equipment. In this era of high security, the proper disposal of police equipment is of the utmost importance, as this equipment in the wrong hands could perpetuate crime.

How can normal disposal methods lead to equipment falling into the wrong hands? Can disposing of vehicles without removing all emergency equipment (including decals, spotlights, etc.) or being keyed alike create a safety concern? Is there, or should there be special disposal method(s) for specially equipped, armored vehicles?

Attend "Police Vehicle and Equipment Decommissioning" on Wednesday, April 20 to have all of these questions answered. In addition, you will also learn what methods are available for the proper disposal of police equipment, whether or not decommissioning should mean the total "stripping" of vehicles before disposal, if the "fleet key system" offered by the vehicle manufacturers compromise the safe operation of vehicles, and if armored vehicles should be allowed to be sold to the public.
