As we move into our new fiscal year starting on July 1, 2022, we’re looking for volunteers for all committees. If you are currently a volunteer, maybe you are looking for a new committee. If you haven’t been volunteering, this is a chance to become more engaged in the Toronto Chapter. Volunteers must be members of the MPI Toronto Chapter so it’s a great benefit that comes with your membership.
Sign up here and we’ll be in touch to confirm your committee assignment.

On June 16, your Just Networking committee welcomed MPI Toronto Chapter members and future members alike to our first in-person JN event in over two years! We wanted to provide an experience that our members wouldn't always have the opportunity to enjoy—one that wasn't over-planned or hectic and allowed free-flowing conversation, connection, and relaxation. We certainly lucked out in all departments by getting to work with new member—and host sponsor—Howie Colt and Gone Sailing Adventures!
Howie and Capt. Greig took two groups out on the water for an hour each (give or take a bit) aboard the DeCompression catamaran. It seems Howie and his team have some pull with the weather, as the forecast was looking threatening, but the thunderstorms held off for the duration of our time on the water. We enjoyed humid, warm, sunny boat cruises for both the 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. tour times.
While on board, attendees were treated to delicious snacks and sips, as well as friendly and conversational service by Kaya. The guac and chips were delicious; the charcuterie board delectable. And rounding out the cruise with the satisfying "pop" of a bottle of sparkling wine to toast time well spent in the company of amazing industry friends—new and established—was a lovely way to cap off a truly relaxing and enjoyable event. We truly can't thank the folks at Gone Sailing Adventures enough!
Sponsors are what make events happen, and we also wish to thank our Registration Sponsors at DE Systems, and our Marketing Sponsors at Ignite. And of course, the behind-the-scenes work by Fletcher Wright Associates is integral to our chapter's livelihood. Thank you all! Your continued support is so appreciated!
Additionally, we are so grateful to MSLE for donating a fantastic prize! A signed Maple Leafs jersey was generously provided, and after the cruises were completed, the Just Networking Committee drew a name at random from the name badges turned back in. Congratulations to Rosevee Sengseng of Glenerin Inn & Spa in Mississauga! We hope you enjoy your prize, and appreciate you having come to our event!
We would be remiss if we didn't also give a huge THANK YOU to all who came and enjoyed a beautiful day that defied the news the weather apps were delivering! Events are only as awesome as the people who attend them, and this event was truly INCREDIBLE!
The Just Networking committee members in attendance were thrilled to hear the gush of compliments for our hosts, and that they enjoyed themselves so much! Our committee will be setting to work on making more opportunities for true connection to be fostered. We can't wait to offer the kinds of networking events that are enjoyable for everyone (even those who find networking painful). If you are just getting used to "peopling" again after a prolonged absence from public life and mingling, we are committed to helping to make your transition smoother, and to facilitating great conversations.
Stay tuned!

The first article that I wrote as President underscored the theme of gratitude and I would like to conclude my last article on the same theme.
Thank you to all our committee volunteers, Chairs, and the Board of Directors for your dedication and leadership. Your passion and resilience were unmatched, despite the continued uncertainty and personal struggles many of you faced. I am so incredibly proud of this Chapter’s achievements and ability to remain agile and execute no matter the changing circumstances and delivering in whatever format was needed; from virtual, to hybrid, to in-person.
My membership and volunteerism have provided me with countless opportunities to foster my leadership skills, create professional and personal connections within our community, raise the profile of our industry through innovative and educational experiences, and contribute to a community that is committed to making intentional change focused on the strength of our diversity and desire for inclusive environments.
I hope that you will not hesitate to connect with me so that we can chat about how you can take the next step in your leadership journey and maximize on all the benefits your membership has to offer.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as President. I am humbled and appreciative for your encouragement and support.

Exhibition Place Debuts Wi-Fi 6 at Beanfield Centre, Enhancing Its Premier Offerings with Cutting Edge Technology
Building on a tradition of innovation in the Canadian convention and exhibition industry, Exhibition Place has debuted Wi-Fi 6 at the Beanfield Centre. Deemed the “next generation of internet,” this cutting-edge wireless technology provides better connectivity in high-density space uses such as meetings, conventions, and galas where audiences congregate and the demand for bandwidth is high. Through OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access), a new technology in Wi-Fi 6, network performance is greatly improved resulting in frictionless access to the internet especially when large audiences with multiple devices are connected. The return to in-person events has seen an increased demand for enhanced digital connectivity as a result of industry trends—from webcasts and video streaming to hybrid events. We are meeting and exceeding these demands by offering complimentary Wi-Fi to all convention and exhibition clients, exhibitors, and attendees at Enercare Centre and Beanfield Centre.More information can be found at www.explace.on.ca. For further information: Alexandra Serrano, Exhibition Place, Manager, Marketing and Communications, aserrano@explace.on.ca.

As the Chair of the Just Networking Committee this year, I've been so grateful to have a team of engaged and committed superstars who actively and generously support each other. From this amazing group, I want to give a particular glow-up to my Co-Chair, Angela Poletto of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
Angela has been present, active, engaged, and has proven to be a wonderful team player and leader. To say that we are proud of her for making the leap to a fellow Chair of the Professional Development Committee for the coming year is an understatement.
We will miss you, Angela, but you will always have our support! We can't wait to collaborate, and are already looking forward to seeing you at our next Just Networking event
