Crisis Management. Planning for the Unthinkable.

Crises happen, and usually when we least expect it! What is an emergency plan? How are security protocols evolving? Are cyber threats really an issue? Where are the risks?

Jenn Houtby-Ferguson, an MPI-accredited trainer, has an extensive background in marketing and crisis communications. Jenn will walk us through emergency preparedness and destination disaster communication. This eye-opening session will help you be the best at planning for the worst.

In this session, you will learn:

  • It happened to me! Tales from the front line
  • What is emergency readiness? Why it matters to meetings & events
  • Who is responsible? Our legal and moral obligations as Canadian event professionals
  • Ontario hazards and expected actions
  • Natural disasters and critical incidents (cyber threats and terrorism)
  • Be ready: how to create critical incident protocols
  • Key components of an emergency action plan

Join us on May 15 at The Broadview Hotel Toronto for this professional development session for all industry professionals.

Then stay on for the Just Networking/Volunteer Recruitment event to find out what opportunities MPI Toronto has for volunteers and meet and network with colleagues.

The MPI Toronto Chapter had the great pleasure of celebrating GMID with over 180 attendees in Toronto on April 4. It was a jam-packed morning filled with insightful keynote presentations, featuring topics on accessibility, human trafficking and the education shaping the future of our industry. Following the keynotes, a captivating panel discussion took place discussing the recent changes in cannabis legislation and how this effects the meetings and events world. The program then transitioned into Connect Up, a peer-to-peer learning and networking program led by industry veterans to educate mentees on specific facets of the event industry.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without our volunteers, sponsors, speakers and, of course, attendees. The MPI Toronto Chapter looks forward to celebrating #GMID20 next year on April 2.

Meetings really do mean business!
