January All Team Meeting Recap

MPI Toronto Chapter members gathered on January 18th, 2011 for the All Team Meeting at the beautiful Estates at Sunnybrook. For those who have not attended the event before, it is a time for potential new volunteers to find out more about MPI’s volunteer experiences in addition to networking with the chapter's supplier and meeting planner members. Each one of MPI’s 10 committees meet simultaneously at the end of the event and members are free to listen in and get involved in the discussions to learn more about each committee’s role in the Chapter. This kick start to the New Year welcomed over 100 chapter members and set the tone for the coming months by engaging more members to volunteer.

As an additional educational element for our members and in keeping with the MPI Toronto Chapter’s commitment to leadership development of our members, the Leadership Development & Nominations Committee presented a session entitled "Leadership – Myths or Truths". The leadership program attendees participated in an interactive leadership exercise including a panel discussion to either confirm or dispel some of the many myths and truths of leadership through various questions and statements that help members understand the difference between the two. Our thanks to the panel: Kelly Shannon, Chapter President; Alice Parnis, Past Chapter President; Suzanne Forster, Past Chapter President and Paula Spizzirri, Committee Chair, for sharing their leadership experiences and thoughts with us. The Leadership Development & Nominations committee looks forward to providing additional leadership education in future sessions.

Thank you to our event sponsor the Estates at Sunnybrook for providing a creative and delicious array of hors d’oeuvres combined with an outstanding event venue, and audio visual for the evening.
