CMP Advocates: What Would We Do Without You?

As a volunteer with the MPI Toronto Chapter CMP Study Group Committee, I have the wonderful opportunity of working with a wide spectrum of industry professionals, all of whom volunteer time out of their personal and professional schedule to join us as speakers for the CMP Study Group Sessions. Each year, the CMP Study Group Committee plans, facilitates and executes study group sessions with a goal of helping attendees gain their CMP Certification. We truly could not offer the CMP Study Group Sessions to the attendees without our incredible speakers!

During each study group session, we bring in industry professionals to present to the attendees on the content from the Convention Industry Council (CIC) Manual and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) – Professional Meeting Management Manual which are the study materials required to prepare for the CMP Exam. All of the speakers must have their CMP designation, are experts in their field and include a combination of meeting planners and suppliers. Our truly valued speakers come from a wide range of industries and segments ranging from financial, audio visual, site selection, third party, associations, hotels and conference venues.

In addition to covering the required content, the speakers also kindly share their experience of writing the exam as well as tips for studying and preparing for the exam. The knowledge and expertise that the speakers share with the attendees is a critical element to the attendees success as they prepare for the exam with a goal of earning their CMP designation.

We are always looking for volunteer speakers who have their CMP designation to speak at future CMP Study Group Sessions. Give back to those who are preparing for their CMP exam and get some valuable clock hours toward your recertification.
