February 18 PD & SS Event

Sarah McVanel led us in discussions around creating retention among your employees through recognition and relationships and how to engage employees to collaborate through a focused leadership approach. Many were "frogged" throughout her session, which followed up with an opportunity to meet Sarah in person and purchase some items to "FROG" someone in your future, as well as grab a copy of her book while having it autographed. I’m sure all walked away with some new insights as to how we can all Forever Recognize Other’s Greatness (FROG).  

After a short break, Dee Byrnes from The Walt Disney Company provided an inside look at how Disney engages their employees to allow extraordinary experiences for employees, clients and attendees. Following a brief video about The Walt Disney Company, Dee went on to provide us real-life examples of how Disney encourages and supports their "cast members," which begins with the application process and carries all the way through one’s entire career with Disney. It truly is a magical company!

At the Signature Series, which followed a fabulous afternoon of education, Senani Ratnayake, from Learn2 lead us in a fun activity that built upon the lessons learned from the afternoon. Each attendee was given five gold cards and five green cards. On each of the gold cards, you were instructed to write something in which you needed help with in order to enhance your abilities or to achieve a goal. On each of the green cards, you were told to write down a topic, skill, etc. that you considered yourself to be an expert in. Then, through interaction with each individual in the room, you were instructed to find someone that had a skill that could help you and you had a skill that could help them. It was great fun, which allowed for plenty of networking among our chapter members.   

The evening was completed with a wonderful dinner prepared by the Westin Prince, which had a little something for everyone from a delectable antipasto spread to a mashed potato martini bar!
