November 9 Signature Series Attendees Networking Tips

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The Signature Series, held on November 9, opened with tips on networking at meeting industry events from Idea Sparker and CEO of Play with a Purpose, Sharon Fisher. When attending your next luncheon, Sharon suggested that you tell your tablemates that "they" have appointed you as the table leader to help guide the discussion and then ask questions that help draw out interesting tidbits you may not have known previously. Sharon almost guaranteed that no one will challenge you on who "they" are!

Sharon then facilitated a highly interactive Facebook Alive session. Each attendee provided general information (name, hometown, workplace, etc.), as well as three interesting facts about themselves for a Facebook "wall" worn on a lanyard. We were then free to roam the room and connect with one another while enjoying the fantastic dinner stations provided by the team at the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport. When we connected and learned more about one another, we applied a sticker to our new friend. The person with the most number of connections/stickers at the end of the evening was deemed the winner. Margaret Binns Showcase Showdown winner on the Price is Right was also a Facebook Alive winner. Congratulations, Margaret!

Our thanks go to David Stempowski and the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport for being our host. The property has completed a number of impressive renovations with more improvements to come, including Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
