EVE - the Event Report

EVE is a report on EVEnts happening around the city. Our reporter scouting these events is Sharda Sukdeo, Maritz Canada Inc., who highlights new industry events, restaurants or venues that would be of interest to our membership. Her June report covers event experiences at SPiN Toronto:

SPiN AROUND
Tired of the same old routine? Put a new SPiN on an office event or a casual welcome evening at SPiN Toronto. Not your parents’ rec room but close, as it’s in the basement off an alley at King & Spadina. Ping-pong tables fill the two rooms that make up SPiN, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere inviting. The two rooms are conducive to private events with one bar for both rooms strategically placed in the centre. Guests are encouraged to play the game and resident pros show how it’s done and after the demonstration, they mingle with the crowd, encouraging them to play.

The light popping sounds of the balls can be heard over the chatter, the laughter. The balls that end up on the floor are swiftly picked up by monitors who are constantly "sweeping" the floor with a basket-like contraption quickly and so unobtrusively that they go unnoticed. Not the place for a sit-down dinner but more of a relaxed feel with passed hors d’oeuvres and great staff. SPiN is definitely not your parents’ basement.
