I wrote this blog post to share my transformative experience at theEVENT in Fredericton, made possible by a scholarship from the MPI Foundation. I reflect on moments of learning, generosity, and connection that shaped my journey, and highlight the importance of storytelling and mental well-being in our industry. Through this opportunity, I discovered a deeper sense of belonging and gratitude for the Foundation’s support in uplifting emerging event professionals like me.
From September 7 - 9, 2025, I had the privilege of attending theEVENT in Fredericton, an inspiring gathering of event professionals, educators, and industry leaders. For me, it was more than just a conference; it was a chance to grow, connect, and feel part of a community that shares my passion for creating meaningful experiences.
This opportunity was made possible by a scholarship from the MPI Foundation. Their generosity allowed me to participate in sessions, workshops, and conversations that will shape my career for years to come. As an emerging event professional, the support I received not only fueled my personal growth but also reflected the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of industry leaders.
theEVENT delivered a dynamic blend of learning and networking. From thought-provoking keynotes to collaborative breakout sessions, I gained fresh perspectives on innovation, experience design, and the future of our profession. But what truly stood out was the spirit of generosity and connection: a fellow member treated me to a meal, hosted my hotel stay, someone I’d just met offered a ride to the airport, and I had countless meaningful conversations with peers and mentors. The organizers’ hospitality was exceptional — every detail, from accommodations to personalized support, made attendees feel genuinely welcome. These moments reminded me that events aren’t just about logistics — they’re about people.
One powerful insight I took away is that storytelling lies at the heart of every event. It’s not just about the agenda – it’s about crafting experiences that resonate and leave a lasting impression. I also learned how vital it is to care for our mental health. Our well-being fuels creativity and resilience, and small practices of joy and play can make a big difference in how we show up — both professionally and personally.

This scholarship opened a vital door for me. Without it, I might have missed out on transformative learning and connection. I’m deeply grateful for the chance to build confidence, discover best practices, and feel a true sense
of belonging. At theEVENT, I experienced firsthand what the MPI Foundation stands for: when we meet, we change the world. Whether you're just starting or have years of experience, the Foundation uplifts us all — strengthening
our community and securing the future of our industry. By supporting those who bring people together, we help
change the world — one connection at a time.
