Last month, Chrissy Thompson, Founder & Senior Event Producer at Dynamo Events, attended another fantastic event put together by MPISCC; a virtual book club centered around author and
educator Jane Elliot’s “A Collar in My Pocket: The Blue Eyes Brown Eyes Exercise.”

She walked away from with a new perspective and several resources to enlighten her team.

Janet Green travelled to Las Vegas in November for IMEX and recaps her experience for our chapter.

This past November 2021, as an international meeting industry, we gathered for the first time since 2019 in Las Vegas for IMEX. The international meeting community was relieved when the travel bans to the U.S. from Europe and worldwide were lifted on November 8, before IMEX was to open on Tuesday, November 9. IMEX drew over 8,500 attendees, including 3,420 buyers and 2,200 exhibitors from more than 200 countries.

Grow

Over the next several months, the You Belong Committee will be sharing what we call "The DEI Minute"—which is quick hits of information and content designed to help our chapter level-set our collective diversity, equity and inclusion knowledge. We'll start by providing the definitions of the most commonly used terminology in the space as the starting point of our journey as we embark on true learning and awareness—together!

Belonging

People who “belong” feel comfortable expressing who they authentically are, feel uninhibited in sharing their ideas and experiences, and are comfortable in contributing within a group when they are confident that their input is truly valued.
