In terms of content, MPISCC hit the mark with this keynote presentation and master class! Part of their new educational series, this virtual event set out to dissect the future of the event industry and guide planners on how to adapt both professionally and personally. I can attest that both the keynote presentation by Gary Bolles, and the insightful workshop with Ajith Krishnankutty and Alan Adams left us all feeling LEVELED-up.

November’s MPISCC virtual Book Club meetup centered on “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson. For those of you who haven’t read the book, it’s a captivating call to end mass incarceration in America—written by one of the most inspiring lawyers of our time.

 

Shedding light on the racism that continues to perpetuate in America, Mr. Stevenson exemplifies the death penalty as a direct descendant of lynching, specifically “a system that treats the rich and guilty better than the poor and innocent.” Readers grasp this concept first-hand in the story about a young Black man wrongfully sentenced to death for murdering a young white woman.

 

 

 

 

 

This holiday season, MPISCC partnered with Fundamental - LA Catering and Los Angeles Dream Center's Restart Learning Center to provide meals to children in need. 

 

Through the generosity of MPISCC members, we are happy to report that we reached our goal of fulfilling the Restart Learning Center's request for 70 meals! MPISCC members will deliver and distribute meals this Thursday, December 17.

 

 

According to recent research, once the pandemic is over,meetings and exhibitions should ultimately return to pre-COVID numbers, but transportation to and from events may be a lingering challenge with shortages remaining in travel-related industries.

Planning and producing a virtual event can be difficult, particularly for associations forced to convert an education portfolio heavy on in-person events to digital formats for the first time. Moving forward, associations must be better prepared to offer high-quality, but efficient virtual and hybrid meetings that serve the changing needs and preferences of members.

When it comes to events, bigger isn't always better. Here's a look at why an independent property might be better suited to host.
