Please join us in congratulating our very own Past President Mariles Krok CMP, CMM, CTA on her promotion to Vice President, Meeting & Partnership Sales at Visit Anaheim.

Mariles joined Visit Anaheim in 2016 as Senior Director of Meeting Sales.

With more than 20 years in the travel and hospitality industries, Mariles has held several senior sales and operations positions at Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board and Marriott International. She is also an active member and past president of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Southern California Chapter, one of the largest MPI chapters in the world.

In her free time, Krok enjoys volunteering as a Travel and Tourism expert speaker/guest facilitator for California State University, Fullerton, Long Beach and Dominguez Hills, Cal Lutheran and Orange Coast College. A Southern California native, Krok lives locally with her husband, John, and children, Johnny and Kayley.

Congratulations, Mariles! We are so proud of you!

When we checked in with our friends over at Discover LA to see what they had cooking, they were happy to share one of the many ways they are changing the face of Los Angeles. It’s all about connection, integration, and doing the work. We can’t wait to find out what else 2020 brings.

In Los Angeles, we never run from a chance to connect and make an impact. Pounding the pavement with the Skid Row Running Club for a new kind of fun run is just one of the ways we’re changing the #CSR game.

Connect
Are you looking to connect with your peers on a deeper level? Do you want to grow your business through your MPISCC network? Joining a committee is the best way to expand your contacts and build relationships.

Did you know that some volunteer positions only take ONE HOUR a month? MPISCC has a variety of opportunities: join an events team such as GMID (Global Meetings Industry Day) or Installation; connect with members on the member care team; support our sponsors on the sponsor fulfillments team; and so many more! We have a teamworking opportunity for everyone!
With myriad ways to engage an audience—television, radio, print, digital and social media advertising, for example—research shows that consumers are tuning out and skipping ads more frequently than ever. But there's a approach that's proving more difficult for consumers to ignore: guerilla marketing. This method incorporates an element of surprise and has been a powerful tool to elevate engagement and increase event sponsorship.

Educate

January 28 is the Annual State of the Industry educational luncheon, and it's all about #HerStory: A conversation featuring dynamic women who have created change and legacy in the industry. This is not to be missed, as this months topic really dives into the powerful and personal testimonies and inspires us to create change within our own organizations. In this dialogue we will cover topics such as:

  • Balancing personal lives with careers
  • Breaking glass ceilings
  • How women can put themselves forward for leadership roles

The day kicks off with two stellar workshops: DMO Best Practices for Suppliers and Full-Throttle Goodness: Fueling Events with Passion, Power & Purpose.

CLICK HERE for a personal invitation from Melissa Majors, CEO of Melissa Majors Consulting, who offers consulting and guides the development of strategies that lead organizations to their desired outcomes. These journeys result in leadership lessons that Melissa uses to enable greatness in others throughout keynote speaking, workshop facilitation, online courses, and publications.

This crowd-pleasing speaker has developed the art of delivering brain-friendly talks that engage not just inspiration but action as well.
