MPISCC: Tell us about YOU!
BS: I guess you can say I’ve been an event planner since age 18. I’m that crazy person who volunteered enthusiastically to plan friends and family baby and bridal showers, parties, and more! Thank goodness I’m finally getting paid for my organizational and creative skills! I’ve worked at Mattel for 18 years in various roles and the last 4 years in Meeting & Event Planning where I’ve had the opportunity to plan and execute both internal client and customer facing in-person and virtual events.

MPISCC: Please share a few fun things about you (hobbies, fun facts, favorites).
BS:  I’m passionate about road cycling and recently joined a cycling club with whom I often ride 100+ miles/week. I’ve traveled to 14 countries and I’m hoping to add more to that list this year, one being the country I’m (half) from, the Philippines.

MPISCC: Proudest moments or accomplishments?
BS: Professionally this year I headed the successful inauguration of Cvent’s event management software at Toy Fair to streamline customer registration and check-in.

Personally, I’m most proud of myself when I map out my goal and push forward to complete it despite obstacles, such as being told no, personal problems or life-altering challenges like the pandemic. There was a time in my career when I attempted to change roles and got passed up for a job for not having my degree. This was the catalyst for me to go back to school and in 2010 I graduated with my bachelor’s degree while working full-time. In addition, I’m proud being a first-generation college graduate.

MPISCC: Why MPISCC?
BS: My first memory of MPISCC was from my predecessor and meeting planning veteran, Pat Moore, because she served on the board and was always so excited about the events and networking with colleagues who also became close friends. I’ve attended a few events in the LA area at which I immediately felt proud to be a part of such a welcoming and professional group of people. I look forward to getting more involved in the future.
