MPISCC: Tell us about YOU!

Janet Green: I have been in the hospitality industry for 20 years. I started working in group sales for a hotel near UCLA and then at a hotel near LAX. My family moved to Westlake Village, and I worked for the Hyatt Regency Westlake as group sales manager. While raising two kids, I worked for HelmsBriscoe. I transitioned into a planner as clients asked me to assist with their meetings. I went back to school (2020) as a Graduate student at SDSU in the Payne Hospitality school for MEM - Meeting & Event Management. I graduated in January 2022.

MPISCC: Did you have any "side hustles" during COVID-19?

JG: During COVID-19, I was employed as an independent planner working many meetings as a virtual room host an onsite meeting coordinator. I took a job with WhiteHouseBlackMarket as a Virtual Stylist as I love fashion & clothes.

MPISCC: Help us finish this sentence. The state of the Industry...

JG: ...is recovering and rebooting itself. To be successful in the industry, whether you're an owner, manager, or employee, we need to be open to change and listen to what people are saying about feeling.

MPISCC: What do you most enjoy about your investment into MPI?

JG: MPISCC provides me with a community of people who love the hospitality industry and we support each other. The ROI the chapter offers me is that I am learning and creating new skills.
