Interview with Denise Meier

MPISCC: What makes your heart happy?

DM: Traveling and being with friends and family are two things that make my heart sing!

MPISCC: Can you tell us about your hobbies and interests?

DM: I love anything outdoors! My newest hobbies during COVID have been gardening and mountain biking. I also enjoy beach volleyball and hiking.

MPISCC: What are your proudest moments or accomplishments?

DM: Making a career switch in the middle of a pandemic! It took a leap of faith, but it was the best decision I have made for myself.

MPISCC: Why MPISCC? What do you love about volunteering with the chapter?

DM: Although I became a member during COVID and haven’t met any members in person, I feel connected to the organization. I love the sense of being part of a community, and MPISCC has brought me that. I love connecting with new people and learning more about the industries in which they work. While I no longer work in hospitality, I still miss aspects of the industry and feel that I am still connected in a sense by being part of MPISCC. I loved volunteering on the Fundraising Events Team the last few months! I have met many members and formed many connections working together as a team.

Interview with Jenny Hurley

MPISCC: Tell us about you!

JH: I’m a national sales manager at New York-New York Hotel in Las Vegas. I started my career in the San Francisco Bay Area with a small property and have been in the industry for over 20 years. In 2003, I moved to Las Vegas as a corporate sales manager for Caesars Palace. From there, I went on to MGM Resorts Hotels; in 2005 - Luxor, Mandalay Bay; and currently at New York-New York Hotel. I have been with MGM Resorts for almost 16  years.

I have a very positive attitude and enjoy every little thing in life. I love hanging out with friends, family and my three wiener dogs. I like working out, going to concerts and sporting events as well as dining out.

MPISCC: What makes your heart happy?

JH: Good food and good company always make me happy.

MPISCC: Can you tell us about your hobbies and interests?

JH: I love wiener dogs. I have three dachshunds — Scout (13-year-old girl), Brownie (six-year-old boy), Mocha (five-year-old girl). I also love to work out, especially riding Peloton and Barre classes.

MPISCC: What are some of your proudest moments or accomplishments?

JH: I’m a proud mom of two young athletics. Both of my boys love to play tackle football, which occupies most of my time with driving to and from practice and attending games.

Professionally, I am very proud of myself for completing my MBA degree during the early part of my career and receiving the CMP designation while living a busy life at work and at home.

MPISCC: Why MPISCC? What do you love about volunteering with the chapter?

JH: I have always loved Southern California. I've encountered so many great customers and created so many friendships over the year at this chapter.

I really enjoy connecting with all of our members while volunteering with the chapter. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and appreciative! Everyone values the contributions of others and always inspires me to do more.
