It is my distinct pleasure to be serving as your MPIGNY Board of Directors President for the 2018/2019 year alongside a fantastic group of event professionals. To prepare for the coming year, our team gathered at Hotel 50 Bowery for our annual retreat. Summer Bash is all about fun, reconnection and rejuvenation. Sure, you might get in a little networking in, make a new contact or two, but most of all, you will see those folks you never know how much you missed until you see their smiling faces again. So pop out your trusty electronic toy, punch in the date and get ready for some rooftop networking!
Please join the members of area meetings, hospitality, tourism and marketing professional associations and their guests for an exciting evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and fun! A special silent auction will be held to support the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge NY, our student scholarship fund and Donors Choose (which funds classroom needs in NYC schools in high poverty areas) so remember to bring your credit card or checkbook to win great travel and entertainment prizes and more while helping a good cause. Thank you to everyone from MPIGNY who joined WEC 2018 in Indianapolis! Here is a great overview of the event:
- Approximately 2,200 registered industry attendees
- Planner to supplier ratio was split about 50:50 with 49.6 percent planners and 50.4 percent suppliers.
- About 77 percent were MPI members; 240 attendees signed up to become new members prior to the event and nine members signed up onsite.
- 39 percent of registrants were WEC first-time attendees.
- There were 249 chapter leaders in attendance, thanks in part to the 2018 MPI Chapter Business Summit, which was held in conjunction with WEC this year.
- The mix of attendees represented 35 countries - with the majority being from the US (89 percent), followed by Canada (5 percent).
- The MPI Hosted Buyer Program had 203 planners and 138 suppliers, who conducted 1,800 business appointments in two days.
- 158 suppliers exhibited throughout the WEC Villages.
- 80 education sessions were delivered, allowing attendees to earn up to 11 clock hours.
- 1,000 unique users registered for the WEC18 Virtual Pass Programme, which features select sessions from each day of the conference; 84 percent were planners and 59 percent were MPI members.
WEC 2019 is scheduled for June 11-14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto. Save the dates and stay tuned for more info for 2019!

How long have you been in the industry? I've been in the industry for the last 10 years and served on the MPISCC and SITE Southern California Board of Directors. I'm lucky to be relocating to NYC and look forward to being engaged with our community here.
Tell us a little about yourself, your career and current position: My current position is a hybrid role handling marketing efforts for our offices nationwide and also developing relationships for our brand.
What are your hobbies and what do you like to do in your spare time? LOVE entertaining, cooking, cycling, and being outside in general. But I do love my Moviepass. :-)
What was your main reason for joining MPIGNY? I'm relocating to NYC and looking forward to networking with our industry colleagues here.
What was your favorite traveling experience? Greece! No plans, just an apartment and 3 weeks to live life and be in the present. Which is so unlike me!
What is your expectation with being a member of MPIGNY? Expecting to meet some great industry professionals who will turn into industry friends!
