MPIGNY 30/30
Message from Our President

Hello MPIGNY! 2018 is flying by and in full swing. In January, we had our first education event of the year at the fantastic AMA Executive Conference Center where we learned about the timely and relevant topic of disaster preparedness. Save the date of Thursday, March 8 for our next education event in collaboration with MJM Creative. A new year also means new networking events, so please join us at The Bank Space at The Manhattan Center on Tuesday, February 13 for a night of networking with your MPIGNY peers. A very heartfelt thank you to the event’s sponsor, Business Events Canada, who has partnered with us to put on an event meant to keep our industry connected!

On Februray 20, all members will receive an email for the Membership and Chapter Satisfaction Survey. It is one of the most important tools we have for capturing the thoughts of members. Don’t miss the chance to help shape the future of our association, plus ... a chance to win a $200 Amazon gift card! Watch for your email from MPI on February 20 with the Subject Line: "Annual MPI Member Survey Invitation."

We’re looking forward to a busy year of education and networking events for our chapter. If you have any ideas, thoughts or wants, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! We’re here to help you make the most of your membership. Here’s what’s happening with MPIGNY ...

The Past 30...

On January 30, we had our first education event of 2018 hosted by AMA Executive Conference Center in Times Square and sponsored by Kalahari Resorts. Bob Mellinger of the Attanium Corp. facilitated an interactive workshop that threw rapid disasters at us to get us thinking about our own emergency and contingency planning. You can't plan for everything, but having the right framework in place to be able to deal with a disaster can make all the difference to your event and attendees.

Meet Our Volunteers

  Renee Jonas, Feet First Eventertainment

Tell us a little about yourself: California born and raised, I moved to New York City at the end of 2017, excited to see what a new city could have in store for me. With the move came an incredible opportunity to expand a company I had be working with for over a year. Feet First Eventertainment has been around for three decades and is now proud to be the leading provider of corporate events in California. Having been a facilitator for Feet First's events in California, I am honored and ecstatic to now be a coordinator and spokesperson for the company, helping to share our laughter and fun with New York City!

What are your hobbies and what do you like to do in your spare time? My biggest hobby and passion in life is dance. I love all forms of dance; however, I am mainly pursuing contemporary/jazz and tap dance. I also love to be outdoors, whether that is walking through the city or hiking and backing through the mountains – I love it all.

What was your main reason for joining MPIGNY? I joined MPIGNY to help spread Feet First's company name to companies who are looking for a fun time. Our company had such a great experience with the MPI SoCal chapter that I knew I would be meeting a great group of people in the Greater NY chapter as well. Moving to a new city, especially such a busy and large city, can be daunting and potentially lonely. From the first MPI event I attended in SoCal to the first MPI event in the Greater NY area, I always felt welcomed. I loved that the people attending the MPI events were both there for business and to have a good time. It really felt like a community.

What was your favorite traveling experience? I've had some amazing travel experiences. My favorite would have to be when I traveled to Australia for two and a half weeks about five years ago.

What are your expectations of MPIGNY? My expectation is to meet some incredible New York professionals and to spread the word of Feet First's incredibly fun and engaging events. I am excited to work with the other members I meet, and to see how we can help each other – whether that be through something my company can provide, or through someone else I met at an event that I think could benefit them.

Brad Weinstein, Hilton Brooklyn New York

Tell us a little about yourself: Young hospitality professional currently focusing on sales and marketing operations at the one-year-old Hilton Brooklyn with a decade-plus experience in event planning on all sides of the spectrum.

What are your hobbies and what do you like to do in your spare time? I fill my spare time with as much live music as possible, and my hobbies include spending time with friends and family, discovering new restaurants and attractions around NYC, as well as taking weekend trips out of the area.

What was your main reason for joining MPIGNY? My main reason for joining MPIGNY is to connect and network with local professionals and continue my education towards MPI's certification programs.

What was your favorite traveling experience? My favorite travel experience was my two-month trip throughout Australia.

What are your expectations of MPIGNY? My expectations consist of meeting and connecting with like-minded individuals, developing myself and my career and having fun doing it!
