Disaster Preparedness: Are you Ready?

Chances are that while you read this, an unexpected disaster is causing a meeting management team stress and confusion and is affecting its ability to produce an event. Are the meeting managers prepared to handle it? Will they be able to recover? Disasters of every shape, size, look and feel happen all the time, affecting businesses, jobs, lives and families.

This session has been designed to put you in the throes of a real-life  disaster situation as it unfolds. You will make the critical decisions any meeting manager may have to make, and deal with the consequences of those decisions! After you've finished, you'll understand the importance of planning in advance for a disaster and event continuity planning.

Join us for this interactive workshop! For details, visit our website here.

Name: Shannon Reinhardt
Company: MEET At Inc.

First, a little about Shannon, her career and her current position:
Shannon Reinhardt is the Director of Sales and Marketing at MEET At Inc. Her enthusiasm and love for people has brought even more energy to MEET! Shannon has spent the last five years as a Director of Sales and Marketing for full-service Hotels in New York City and Pennsylvania. With over 14 years of experience in sales, marketing, and event planning she specializes in working with Corporate Meetings and Groups. Shannon grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, attended Northampton College for Hotel and Restaurant Management in Bethlehem, and started her career in the Lehigh Valley. She moved to the Big Apple a few years ago to pursue her passion for her career and the vibrant city life!  She lives in Forest Hills, Queens, with her boyfriend and enjoys traveling.

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation would be to take a cruise around the world. Beaches and tropical places are usually my go to destinations!

What is one thing you love most about New York City/GNY? The city is a melting pot of people from every part of the world.  It is exciting to make new friends from different places and try authentic foods from anywhere in the world. I also love that it is a very competitive market because it makes my career exciting; plus I love a challenge.

What was your favorite traveling experience? I had a wonderful experience when I was 17 on my first cruise with my family to Hawaii!  I still talk about that trip and it was 16 years ago!

What are your expectations as a member of MPIGNY? As an MPI member, I expect to make fantastic connections to grow my business and collaborate in the meeting industry. I also expect to become a better professional and fine tune my meeting planning skills.

Name: Simon Lo

Tell us a little about yourself, your career and current position: I am the owner and lead photographer for Simon Productions Photography and have been shooting corporate events since 2011.

My background is in advertising. I developed my eye for detail working at such agencies as Saatchi & Saatchi, JWT and Deutsch. My passion for photography started with the college magazine and I’ve been shooting ever since.

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation? That’s easy – to book a flight around the world. I’d stop at the places I’ve missed in my travels. I most like visiting museums and historic places.   I also love spending time in the places where locals go for their weekend getaways.

What is one thing you love most about New York City/GNY? I enjoy visiting nearby places like the Jersey Shore or Hamptons. I love the different events that MPIGNY hosts throughout the year. As a photographer with marketing experience, I get a lot from seeing and learning about all the facets of the meetings industry.

What was your favorite traveling experience? My favorite traveling experience was to Istanbul. I’d wanted to go there for a long time and finally made it last year. The city is just beautiful. I went there several weeks after an incident, and felt like I was taking a chance. It was well worth it. I treated myself to a personal tour guide for 2 days, who also helped as an interpreter. One of the highlights was Haiga Sofia. It has lots of history, and I’ve seen it in many documentaries and movies. Speaking of movies, I’m a hardcore fan of the James Bond series. I knew Istanbul was the background for two of the films. My tour guide told me about the third.

What are your expectations as a member of MPIGNY? I’ve learned that you always get what you put in. That is one of the reasons that I’m the photography sponsor for MPIGNY.
