MPIGNY 30/30
Message from Our President
It is hard to believe that the summer is almost behind us and that we're mere days, weeks away from apple picking, foliage and crisp fall weather. Given the heat and humidity of the summer, most of us can't complain! As we march our way into fall, MPIGNY is excited about what the season has in store for us. Don't miss our September education event on September 21. It's all about how to navigate vendor law and avoid risk. Then, be sure to join us for some Fall networking on September 30. What's not to love about the Fall?

And let's not forget what we've seen and done. From a successful WEC in San Francisco and our packed Annual Industry Summer Bash to our final After Six Mix of the summer at NYY Steak, MPIGNY has made the most of our summer "vacation."

Here's what's happening with MPIGNY ...

The Next 30...And Beyond
Have you ever had to hire an independent contractor, AV company, speaker, entertainment, florist, etc., for your meeting or event? Chances are you said yes, but do you know what your legal exposure is? Join the MPI Greater New York Chapter on Monday, September 21, for an informative session with Michael Jakowsky of Jackson Lewis P.C. at the stunning 3 West Club to learn about various legal roadblocks and potholes of event planning!

Michael will help you to be sure you are not exposed when contracting with suppliers for your meetings and events. This session will dive deep into the world of vendor employment law risk at events and give the attendees valuable information on how to reduce and manage vendor risk in the event industry.

Our guest speaker, Michael Jakowsky, is a shareholder in the White Plains, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on employment litigation, as well as advising clients on a variety of workplace issues, including wage and hour and reductions in force.

The Past 30...
Times Square is one of the top tourist destinations in the country. It’s always abuzz with a mass of humanity making their way to and from restaurants, Broadway shows and a variety of entertainment venues. On this night, however, the attendees at the Annual Industry Summer Bash had the best seats in the house. The view from the terrace of the Novotel, our host for the evening, was incredible. The bright lights of Broadway were the perfect backdrop. Even a die-hard New Yorker like myself, couldn’t help but be impressed with the view. More than 300 attendees mixed, mingled, caught up with old friends and made new ones. It was a perfect evening and the Novotel did a great job keeping our glasses and bellies full. Special thanks to our Sponsor Kalahari Resorts and Conventions.

Many thanks to our photographer, Caylena Cahill, owner/founder of CC Photo & Media.

Summer and baseball go hand in hand so it made perfect sense to gather at NYY Steak, The Steakhouse of the New York Yankees. More than 40 guests and members enjoyed the iconic club’s hospitality at their Midtown Manhattan location. As a special surprise, all attendees received a voucher for two tickets to a home game for the month of September. You never know what can happen at our networking events.

With three private dining rooms, including the Vault Room hung with the contracts of the most legendary players, huge thanks to NYY Steak, which can accommodate your group’s sports fans and foodies alike.

The next After Six Mix will be on Wednesday, October 28, so please mark your calendars and save the date! The location will be announced shortly, so stay tuned. For more info, go here.
