Dear MPI Greater New York: 

First off, I’d like to thank the 2018-2019 board of directors for their terrific work moving our chapter into a positive direction over this past year. Looking back on everything we’ve been able to accomplish, I have to especially recognize my good friend Carly Roncaglio-Marotta for her leadership and wisdom during her term as president. Carly is an inspiring human being who puts the needs of others ahead of her own, and our chapter is most certainly in a better place due to her substantial efforts.

As we officially move into the MPIGNY 2019-2020 term, our focus is going to be the engagement of the meetings professional/meeting planner. I think our entire chapter is aware of how busy everyone is and how easy it can be for meeting professionals to be invited to events across all five boroughs of New York City. We recognize that and want to strive for excellence in every event that we put on this year. We want planners and suppliers to be engaged and excited about attending all MPIGNY events this year!

With that in mind, during our latest Board Retreat at the beautiful Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, our board of directors voted to reallocate chapter funds into the education and networking budgets so that we can ultimately enhance those events to the very best of our ability. This infusion of resources coupled with the gracious Planner Scholarship Program, sponsored by the London Convention Bureau, will create stronger planner engagement during MPIGNY events this year.

Key deliverables that we’ve committed to in 2019-2020 are:

• Planner Scholarship Program: London Convention Bureau will be offering annual memberships to qualified meeting planners who are truly excited to engage with MPIGNY.
• $10 Registration for Planners: We’re going to make it as easy as possible for planners to attend our events this year! If you can’t afford the $10, call me. We’ll get you in! 
• Elevated Education: Education is at the forefront of MPIGNY, and I think you’re going to like what you see this year! Stay tuned for more details on our first education event coming this fall.
• Consistent CSR Opportunities: CSR is becoming more and more prevalent within the hospitality community. MPIGNY has big plans on how we’re going to give back this year, and we want you to be a big part of it! 
• Mentorship Program: Grooming leaders is critical to the future of our chapter. Stay tuned as we’ll be pairing up seasoned event professionals with those who are eager to develop and grow their own respective careers.
