Finishing the Year Strong!

We are quickly approaching the end of the MPI Greater New York calendar year, and I am pleased to report that your chapter is well-positioned to continue making a positive impact on your professional development in the years ahead. Most likely, many of you have already seen the big news that MPIGNY will be the recipient of the 2021 RISE Award for Marketplace Excellence at MPI WEC next month in Las Vegas. We are deeply honored to receive this award for the MPIGNY EdX & Genie Awards event we produced live from Broadway in October. You have heard me say this a few times, but it truly was a team effort, encapsulating everything that our chapter embodies. We were able to shine a light on all facets of the hospitality industry and the devastating impact COVID-19 has had on all of us, while also producing industry-leading education, fabulous networking opportunities, live entertainment and, finally, recognizing our top members for their achievements in giving back to our chapter and the industry at large. Thank you to everyone who joined us that afternoon. You are the lifeblood of this organization, and your continued participation in this chapter is vital to our overall success.

For those of you who are attending MPI WEC in Las Vegas next month, we will be receiving the award at the President's Dinner on Wednesday, June 16. The dinner is always a huge opportunity for the leaders of our industry to come together. This year's dinner will also be honoring Terri Breining who has been the facilitator for our board retreats the last several years. Terri is an industry icon, and we couldn't be happier to see her receiving this deeply deserved recognition. If you are interested in joining us at the dinner, tickets are $250 each, but members of our chapter are eligible for a discount of $100 off each ticket. Enter the Promo Code RISEPD to obtain the discount. One other item I will add: For the first time this year, WEC registration includes the closing night event, MPI Rendezvous, taking place at The Venetian Resort Pool Deck. For those of you who have been to Rendezvous, you understand that this is one event you never want to miss. I hope to see many of you in person next month!

Our next official event is Tuesday, May 18. We will be heading into the kitchen (virtually) with comedians Dan Altano and Ryan Brown to cook up some pasta pesto and a few good laughs. Dinner's Ready Live - Let's Get Ready to Pesto is a CSR initiative that will benefit the MPIGNY Cycle for Survival Team and the Isabella Altano Scholarship for Emerging Artists. We are asking for a $20 registration fee for this event where the proceeds will be split between the two philanthropies. This will not be just any normal cooking class! Please plan to join us for the festivities. It should be a fun night!  All registration details are outlined below.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the New York Forward event where you heard some relevant information on producing in-person live events once again in New York City. The team did a great job, and I hope all of you found value in participating. There is no question that we are headed in the right direction and are hopeful to get back to having MPIGNY in-person events very soon.

And, speaking of in-person events, the MPIGNY Kalahari Resorts Golf Outing is back! As many of you know, this is my favorite event of the year, and we are excited for its long-awaited return this summer. We are heading back to Harbor Links Golf Course on Long Island for a great day of golf, networking and cocktails. This year's event will take place on Thursday, July 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. We have some tremendous sponsorship opportunities available, so if you are interested in showcasing your organization, I encourage you to take a look ASAP. If you are interested in playing golf that day, we still have room for you to join in, either as a foursome or individually. All of the registration details are outlined below. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Andrew Barnes who will be happy to assist.

Finally, I think we can all agree that there is no bigger job in this world than being a mom. So, with that in mind, I would like to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all of you who are celebrating this weekend. I hope you and your families get an opportunity to spend some quality time together. And, guys, just remember, it's not too late to send some flowers back home!
