It is with a heavy heart that we join our MPIGNY community in mourning the passing of Doug Heath. A long-standing fixture in the meeting and events industry, Doug was a former board member of MPIGNY and the first CEO of MPI Global.

One of MPI's 172 charter members when it was chartered in 1972, Doug remained involved in the organization throughout his career. He led learning sessions, won a Planner of the Year Award and was elected to the board of directors in 1982, although he never served, as it was then that he accepted the position of MPI's first full-time, paid CEO.

Some of Doug's accomplishments during his years at the helm of MPI included moving the headquarters to Dallas from Middletown, Ohio, establishing the MPI Foundation, serving on the CLC Committee that designed the CMP program, changing the monthly newsletter to a full, four-color monthly magazine, extending international chapter presence in Europe, and expanding relations internationally.

Rich Luna, director of publishing for MPI, shared the attached article recalling Doug's commitment and dedication to the organization.

Rest in peace, Doug Heath. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doug's family, friends and colleagues.
