MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS: THE DIRECTORS' DEN

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. - Romans 12:12

I work at Visit Raleigh as the National Sales Manager for the Northeast market promoting Raleigh, North Carolina, as a destination for meetings and events and I've been a member of MPIGNY for four years. Personally, MPI has offered me the opportunity to collaborate with wonderful people and generated in me a new affinity and appreciation for NYC by being there more often, discussing various venues, and listening to the NYC perspectives from fellow board members. Professionally, it has stretched me to get outside of my comfort zone and foster a greater understanding of the impact MPIGNY and organizations like it have on our industry.

Outside of work, I am passionate about my church community, playing basketball, and spending quality time with my wife, whether going on a weekend trip, to the movies or a quiet evening at home.

As MPIGNY's Director of Membership Engagement, I hope to make individual members feel valued and understand their unique ability to contribute to our chapter and our industry. I want to generate enthusiasm among the members to volunteer, so that they develop at least one lasting relationship from their membership.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS: MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. - J.C. Watts

I’ve been a member of MPI for 19 years and joined to become a part of the amazing community. I’d like to connect with as many meeting planners and buyers as possible.

Outside of work, I’m completing my ''New York City adventure list.'' This encompasses visiting renowned landmarks and participating in quintessential events, such as the New York Marathon and the Five Borough Bike Tour. Additionally, exploring the city's diverse neighborhoods and attractions with my daughter enriches my experience, creating unforgettable memories in the city's vibrant streets and parks.

We are proud to announce that the event will be held at NY Country Club in Spring Valley, New York. The golf course is located only 15 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge and a 30-minute drive from the George Washington Bridge. NY Country Club has been voted as one of the “Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest. While we have changed locations, the experience that will be received from the outing has not. Post-Con

On April 11, MPIGNY participated in Global Meetings Industry Day at the beautifully renovated Convene on Park 101. We hosted an invigorating conversation with Shalynne Jackson regarding DEI. Not only did she speak about DEI within the workplace, she provided examples of everyday life situations and how to incorporate this practice. Our talk was then followed by a panelist discussion where Shaylnne interviewed Rachel Bandarenko, Gideon E. Moncrieffe, and Kerri Otto on how to ensure we use DEI efforts within the event world including event production, seating, and sensory options. Guests were also able to partake in a giveback opportunity during the reception where they designed bookmarks and bookplates to give back to a local New York school. A heartfelt thank you to our partner associations and our sponsors: Convene, Caesars, and Gotham Artists.
