That’s all she wrote! My time as President of this great Chapter will be coming to an end on June 30th. It has been an absolute pleasure and an incredible experience being President of the MPI Greater New York Chapter. I have had an amazing Board of Directors that have assisted me in delivering all that we have achieved this year. I have been honored to work alongside all of them. A huge thank you goes to everyone that has played a part in our success. I am delighted to pass over the reigns to Jennifer Rondinelli for the incoming year and know that she and her board will continue on delivering to our Chapter.

This term, we have branched out to other boroughs with our events. We are truly the Greater New York Chapter with events in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Roosevelt Island, along with our annual Golf Outing on Long Island. We will continue to look at other areas to host events to bring you different experiences.

The Summer Kick-Off “Grand Slam Gatherings”, took place on May 8th, at Yankee Stadium where the New York Yankees took on the Oakland A’s. We had over 80 attendees for what was a great way to kick off the Summer! The Legends team put together an incredible menu, and the evening was capped off with a Yankees win!

As we get ready for the new Board Term (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024) we will need help planning our events. Would you like to give back to the hospitality industry? We need YOU, our members, to jump in and assist our Chapter where you can. How can you help? What are your interests or skills? It doesn’t need to take a large amount of your time; it can be as little or as much as you would like to dedicate. We will work with you and your schedule. Please reach out to me or any of our Board Members if you would like to get more involved with the Chapter. Or simply complete the "Find Your Fit" survey if you are interested in volunteering. We would love to have you!

This Summer we have some amazing events lined up. First, we have a Special Event Venue Showcase at Brooklyn Bowl TONIGHT. This Networking event is hosted by Brooklyn Bowl in conjunction with our friends at SITE NE, PCMA New York, ILEA New York, IAEE New York and New York City Tourism & Conventions. Registration is open.

MPIGNY’s annual Awards Gala, the “Genie Awards,” presented by Kalahari Resorts, is taking place at the TWA Hotel on June 21st. This event will be a great celebration of all the great partners we have had over the past year. We will also be inducting the new Board. There will be complimentary transportation to/from Midtown to the hotel included with the cost of your ticket. Registration is open.

Finally, the must attend event of the Summer…The 2023 MPIGNY Kalahari Resorts Golf Outing will take place on Thursday, July 27th, at Harbor Links in Port Washington. We have Foursomes and Partnership opportunities available. You do not want to miss this event! Registration is open.

The 2023 Women In Tourism Awards were held on May 9th at City Winery. This year’s women honorees contributed to the industry by helping to create exceptional experiences for NYC visitors.
