Dear MPI Greater New York Chapter Members,

December has arrived—aka the month when our calendars fill up faster than a Midtown Starbucks at 8:00 a.m. It’s a time of celebration, reflection, and, most importantly, giving. As the holiday season surrounds us with its signature mix of sparkle and frenzy, it offers the perfect moment to appreciate the generosity and spirit that define our MPIGNY community.

A Year to Remember
As this is my final President’s Message, I’ve found myself looking back on the past year with tremendous pride. Together, we’ve delivered meaningful education, strengthened our professional community, championed inclusivity, and kept the energy high across every gathering—sometimes very high, especially when golf clubs or bowling shoes were involved. Your dedication has shaped a chapter that is resilient, innovative, and deeply connected. Serving as your president has been an honor I will carry with me long after my inbox finally recovers.

The Season of Giving
This time of year nudges us to give back—and within MPI, the MPI Foundation stands as a powerful way to do just that. The Foundation fuels scholarships, grants, and industry research that support meeting professionals across the globe. If you’re feeling inspired this season (or simply looking for a meaningful way to wrap up the year), I encourage you to explore and support their impactful work.

Our Final Event of 2025
Before we officially close the books on the year, we have one last chance to gather—and it’s a casual festive gathering. Join us for our Jingle Mingle on December 10 at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chelsea. It’s the perfect setting to raise a glass, exchange some cheer, and celebrate all we’ve built together in 2025. Ugly sweaters optional—but let’s be honest, strongly encouraged.

Thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, partners, and every member who showed up, stepped up, or simply cheered us on this year. Your creativity, passion, and commitment power this chapter and elevate our community.

I’m also thrilled to welcome your incoming 2026 Chapter President, Hallia Baker, whose term officially begins in January 2026. Hallia brings strong vision, deep industry insight, and an unmistakable passion for member engagement. She’ll kick off her presidency with one of our most beloved traditions: Empire Honors (The Official Genies Rebrand) on January 22 at The Langham—a signature celebration of everything our chapter has accomplished in 2025. I can’t think of a more fitting way for her to begin than by honoring the individuals and achievements that make MPIGNY extraordinary.

Our chapter is very lucky to have been under her leadership in various capacities for several years. From volunteer member to committee member and from Director to VP and, eventually President, Jennifer has donated her time and talents in many different areas during her time with the Greater NY Chapter. Her calm demeanor, strong oversight and mentorship to many will be remembered for years to come.

Join us for a festive Holiday Happy Hour hosted by Starbucks Reserve Roastery! Kick off the season with LIVE MUSIC, complimentary cocktails, delicious bites, and exclusive experiences created just for MPI & ILEA members and guests. Connect with fellow planners, meet the Roastery events team, and discover what makes this space so special. Plus, you’ll have the chance to win great giveaways—including event perks and Starbucks merchandise!

CSR
In partnership with the New York City Department of Homeless Services, the Whitney Museum will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to support families living in shelters or temporary housing across the city. This initiative aligns with the City’s commitment to uplifting communities in all five boroughs during times of need.

Contributions Needed
The City has identified an urgent need for toys, games, art supplies, and books multilingual items are especially appreciated. In accordance with City regulations, only new and unwrapped items can be accepted. All donated gifts will be distributed directly by the Department of Homeless Services.

Gift Drop-Off
You may drop off your contributions with our Director of CSR, Jennifer Wellington, between 5:45PM- 6:30PM at 9th Avenue entrance of Chelsea Market.and then head over to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery for some Java Jingle fun to kick off the holiday happy hour!
