MCAM does it again for the 30th year, on Thursday, August 15 at Breezy Bend Country Club. With the support of over 35 corporate sponsors there were 180 golfers (45 teams) that played a round of golf, Texas-Scramble style for their Annual Jamie Mcnabb Memorial Golf Tournament Extravaganza.

The weather was perfect for golfers and MCAM’s charity of choice, Siloam Mission, who were on-site raising a record-breaking number of $8K at their individual hole events. “This money will focus on helping people to heal their wounds and transition out of homelessness, thank you so much!” Said Janet Mcleod, Capital Campaign Director from Siloam during the reception dinner.

The day started at 11:00 a.m. with a surprise welcome gift at registration.  A Google Mini was given to each one of the golfers as they arrived, then a barbeque lunch sponsored by IPEX before the shotgun start at noon.

There were events at almost every hole. For the first time, Little Bones Wings and their food truck were invited to whip up delicious complimentary wings and guests were thrilled that Midwest Engineering sponsored this popular hole.

The Hole-in-One prize, which was a new Ford F150 Truck from Vickar Ford, sponsored by Derksen Plumbing & Heating, went unclaimed. However, the Job Box filled with wine was a huge hit. Sponsored by United Rentals and Kal Tire this event alone raised over $2K. Paul Schimnowski from E.H. Price was the lucky winner whose name was drawn from this raffle.

After the six long hours of playing, supper was immediately served.  Food stations sponsored by AON Risk Services awaited the hungry golfers as they entered the clubhouse. Golf Committee President Eric Henstridge, VP of Comco Pipe and Supply (Hole Sponsor) took to the podium and announced the individual competition hole winners.  Prizes such as gift certificates from the MLCC, big screen TV, lawn chairs and a Nespresso Machine were presented to the champions. All generously donated by BPL, E.H Price and Wolseley Mechanical.

“Huge thanks to our golf committee and everyone involved in putting together this incredible event and each year it gets better and better!” Says MCAM’s President Dan Olson of ABCO Supply & Service (Title Sponsor).  “The proceeds from the golf tournament will help to fund various programs, foster a unified voice and provide leadership for the mechanical contracting industry in Manitoba.” Said Olson.

This Golf Tournament is always a sell out event. Members are already trying to secure their spots to be included next year at this most highly anticipated event.
