We at MCA Canada want to bring more good news, member-interest stories into our quarterly National Bulletin newsletters. And we're looking for your help. Give us your good news. Tell us about the awards you've won, the major projects you've just completed, the great charity work you do—and anything else you're proud of and want your fellow MCA Canada members to know about.

MCA Canada's website lists a few ways you, your company and your family can pay tribute to World Plumbing Day this March 11th.

Effective immediately, contractors with valid security statuses and clearances with the CSP will be eligible to start work while the duplication of their security status or clearance to another registered company is being processed. This initiative will make it easier for contractors to start working on government contracts sooner while they move their security status or clearance from one company to another registered in the CSP. This will allow increased flexibility for government departments who in the past would have had to delay the start of work until the duplication process was completed.

If you have questions regarding the updated duplication process, please contact the client service centre at SSI-ISS@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca or call 1-866-368-4646.

According to a University of Toronto professor, a federal infrastructure bank is a viable option to finance, evaluate and deliver the country's next wave of infrastructure investment as well as giving Canada's economy a much-needed boost.

Applications for funding via the SD Tech Fund and SD Natural Gas Fund opened on February 17 and will close on April 13.

The Liberal government plans to launch a full-scale review of the controversial temporary foreign workers program. Reforms passed by the former Conservative government limit foreign workers to 10 percent of a company’s work force in low-paying jobs, and prohibit employers from hiring them in regions of high unemployment. In most communities with an employment rate above 6 percent, companies cannot qualify for the program.

The federal infrastructure minister said money would be spent strategically to make the economy more productive.
