Initiated by the World Plumbing Council and supported enthusiastically by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada, World Plumbing Day celebrates the important role plumbing plays in the health and safety of modern society.

MCA Canada members can now register for all CEC national programs. To register for the upcoming Estimating Conference and the 10-Day University of Waterloo Project Management course, for example, visit the Events section of www.constructioneducation.ca.

Construction will gain momentum in some regions while others feel the impact of lower commodity prices, delayed or cancelled projects and declining employment. As conditions unfold across the provinces, workforce mobility continues to play an important role in meeting industry’s regional labour requirements. Mobility, along with an aging workforce are key themes according to the latest labour market forecast released by BuildForce Canada.

CCA believes the release of Informing the Future: The 2016 Canadian Infrastructure Report Card demonstrates the urgent need for sustained strategic infrastructure investment across Canadian municipalities. The 2016 report card found that almost 60 percent of Canada’s core public infrastructure, including bridges, roads, transit lines and water infrastructure, is owned and maintained by municipal governments and that one-third of that municipal infrastructure is in fair, poor or very poor condition.

Apprenticeship stakeholders and CAF-FCA members would like to learn more about best practices from across the country.

Two influential construction-advocacy associations have teamed up to issue a report that aims to offer new insights into the role public-private partnerships can play in furthering environmentally sustainable building goals.

Student Chapter members, faculty, contractors and MCA managers are invited to join MCA Toronto as they host the third annual, two-day MCA Canada Student Chapter Summit, February 25 to 27.

The Construction Education Council's Accredited Project Management Program will be offered over 10 days again this spring: from March 31 to April 4 and April 21 to April 25. Make a point to check out this great session. It's incredibly popular and filled with all kinds of valuable insight.

CEC is pleased to announce that it will once again offer its highly acclaimed Estimating Conference in 2016. Mark the dates and place: May 9 to 11 in Saskatoon, SK.

Innovation and Technology
The 2015 Construction Technology Report highlights the results of a survey of over 2,000 construction professionals on the tech they are using. It contains valuable insight and data on the technology solutions, strategy and budgets at construction companies of all sizes and industries.

With the technological advancement in software utilizing cloud computing we are able to harness the power of infinite computing. With such a resource at hand we can compute vast amounts of data within minutes, we can also utilize this technology to explore options in design and utilize Building Information Modeling. February 16 and 17 in Vancouver.

CAF's annual national apprenticeship conference will take place June 5–7 in Vancouver, BC.
