These success stories are about Canadians who have changed their own lives, or those of others, through the apprenticeship grants.

The National Hockey League (NHL) released its 2014 NHL Sustainability Report this past summer and with it became the first professional sport in North America to compile a detailed analysis of its carbon footprint.

Innovation and Technology
Construction companies are increasingly finding real value in partnering with software vendors for cloud technology including mobile access.

To this end, Dixon Projects, a construction subsidiary of Dixon Advisory USA, has selected Jonas Premier from Jonas Construction Software as its construction software to manage its rapidly growing operations.

In demanding work environments such as the construction jobsite, devices need to not only be functional, but also durable and tough. Two new tablets designed for rugged environments could bring new hardware options to construction professionals looking to adopt mobile devices and technologies.

BuildingSmart is a global movement active in 18 countries with the express aim of developing the standards and processes that will enable OpenBIM. Developing open standards and open standards allows information to be shared in standard formats around the world.

"If countries set up their own processes and software companies set up their own data templates then we will end up working in global silos, unable to unlock the commercial benefits of international collaboration" says Nick Tune, director of BuildingSmart UK.

Operating on different platforms, protocols and processes means the age old problems of information being ambiguous, incorrect and late continue, with their associated impacts of re-works leading to costs and delays continue. OpenBIM has the potential to change that.

MCA Canada's Charity of Choice

As you know, Operation Eyesight and MCA Canada have partnered together to help eradicate blindness caused by trachoma, a completely curable disease.

Since 1963, Operation Eyesight has prevented more than 35 million people from facing the tragedy of needless blindness. The most heart-wrenching fact about trachoma is that it can be eradicated with accessible clean water and basic sanitation, something near and dear to our hearts.
