Monday morning and it's time to start another busy week. First stop...the downtown job site. The guys are geared up in their work wear that we picked up at Mark's Work Wearhouse. They not only work like pro's, but they look like pro's... and we saved a bundle! More good news, the gas and supplies we ordered from Praxair showed up onsite early, again, so it's full steam ahead. This week is starting off well!
Next, it's over to the shop to get the service guys on the road. They're pretty happy, for a Monday, since we just picked up 3 brand new trucks. I got a smoking deal, thanks to our Chrysler Fleet Purchase Program. I saved enough on the first three trucks that the fourth one was practically free. We sent them over to PetroCanada to fill up and yeah, we saved money there, too. About $800 a month back in our pockets! And with Chase Paymentech, we get a better rate on credit card processing so smaller jobs can be paid immediately. No receivables!...Stay tuned to see how the rest of my week goes!

Since its April 2013 launch, BuildForce Canada has worked hard to establish itself as Canada's top labour-market information provider and is continuing that momentum with several new initiatives this fall. After losing its sector council funding as the Construction Sector Council (CSC), the organization launched a new brand and new board of directors last year. BuildForce was able to hit the ground running, thanks to the credibility established through the CSC. This fall, BuildForce will introduce a fully revamped Careers in Construction website at www.careersinconstruction.ca that aims to engage youth and parents with easily accessible, trade-by-trade information.
HALIFAX —The Nova Scotia government is aiming to cut costs by centralizing the purchase of supplies and services. Internal Services Minister Labi Kousoulis said the Shared Services Act, introduced October 28, would result in savings of up to $60 million annually once it is fully implemented, something that is expected to take up to five years. The changes would see construction projects worth more than $1 million, financial services, information technology services and building management for departments, health authorities and school boards centralized mainly through his department and two others.

MCA Canada's Charity of Choice
MCA Canada members have raised over $180,000 for the drilling of wells and waterpoints, but there's still a long way to go! The good news is, Trachoma can be defeated. In Kenya, Trachoma has been eliminated. MCA Canada remains fully committed to helping eradicate Trachoma, a preventable eye disease brought about by a lack of clean water and sanitary conditions, in Zambia. While we in Canada take clean water for granted, millions in Zambia face hardship, disease and even death just to get water. Please consider contributing to our charity, which literally saves lives and betters the world. Visit the MCA Canada website at www.mcac.ca, call the office at 613-232-0492 or email mcac@mcac.ca for your copy of the "Operation Eyesight Pledge Package."

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) have jointly created best practice guidelines to assist both mechanical contractors and wholesale distributors when dealing with supply chain management issues such as procurement. The Best Practices Guidelines are a tool to help strengthen the procurement process by taking several factors into account prior to each project.
Volunteers often selflessly give of their time, money, and experience in support of their community and those in need of some assistance. If you, or someone you know, is a volunteer or contributor to a worthy cause, MCA Canada would like to hear about it. While these wonderful amazing people are not seeking recognition, we would like to listen to their stories and share them with our association members. People do amazing things every day. Let's hear about them. Please send your stories to mcac@mcac.ca.
