To all our Members, Directors, Executive, Committee Members, and Staff

The holiday season is upon us once again and my wife Carol and I would like to personally wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. I just started as Chairman of MCA Canada in September and have already seen firsthand the tremendous support and effort of all the volunteers and staff in our Association. Over the next two years I will endeavor to meet as many of you as I can through my travels across the country and I look forward to the discussions and projects we will work on together.

Give a gift that guarantees a "wow"! Why give the same ol’ tins of cookies or bottles of wine to your friends, colleagues or business associates? This year, give a gift that will bring a smile to their faces AND help restore sight to someone in the developing world! Two gifts in one!

During the Christmas holidays, MCA Canada's office will be closed at noon on December 24th, 2013 and reopen on January 2nd, 2014. We hope you have an exciting Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

The Canadian Mechanical Contracting Education Foundation (CMCEF) is pleased to present the two-day seminar: Dispatcher Training Program. MSCC’s Dispatchers Training Program closes that gap with a comprehensive training course created specifically for service dispatchers. Custom-designed especially from MSCC members, this program goes beyond traditional technical training to help develop those advanced skills needed to be highly effective in the dispatcher role. By completing this program, dispatchers will be able to improve their job performance and more effectively contribute to the success of the company. A recent report based on responses from construction executives highlights productivity as being increasingly challenged in the construction industry. The 2013 Fourth Quarter Nonresidential Construction Index report, put out by FMI, a provider of management consulting and investment banking services to the engineering and construction industry, suggests that productivity continues to slide. "The 48.6 score is at its lowest since the second quarter of 2008. Ultimately, attention to productivity and profit margins will be key to sustaining growth going forward," the report noted.
