In August 2016, the Energy and Mines Ministers' Conference released a framework entitled Encouraging Market Transformation through Collaboration on Energy Efficiency Standards to define how federal, provincial and territorial governments can collaborate to achieve greater harmonization on energy efficiency standards.That action plan was just updated.

CEC is pleased to announce that it will once again offer its highly acclaimed Estimating Conference in Halifax, NS, from October 11 to 13. This is a unique conference focusing not on how to estimate, but rather project procurement and strategies. Sessions covered will include deal breakers, project risk and go/no go strategies, putting together a proposal, and what a general contractor looks for in its selection process to name a few. The conference is led by Jack Wilhelmi and Tim Wentz from MCA America with a special session held by Dan Leduc from Norton Rose Fulbright.

By the Numbers

Inflation picked up its pace last month for the first time since January as the annualized rate accelerated to 1.2 percent.

Canadian municipalities issued $8.1 billion worth of building permits in June, up 2.5 percent from May and the second highest value on record. The value of residential building permits fell 0.9 percent in June to $5 billion. Municipalities issued $3 billion worth of building permits for non-residential structures in June, up 8.8 percent from May. The value of commercial permits rose 13 percent to $1.7 billion. The value of building permits issued for industrial structures was up 6.3 percent to $573.5 million. The institutional component increased 2.1 percent to $749.3 million.
