As the holiday season is upon us, another year ends. I am delighted to have the opportunity to revel in the success of the past 12 months, and to look forward to 2017 with great excitement and expectation.

Thanks to a new partnership between MSCC and BOMA Canada, building owners and managers across the country are being encouraged to choose MSCC-certified contractors to service, repair and retrofit their buildings. If your company hasn't already earned its certification, act now—or risk losing out on lucrative business opportunities.

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of one of our old timers and dedicated member of our industry. Bill Herr passed away peacefully on November 11. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Merle, daughters Maureen, Candace and Patti, grandchildren Becky, Kevin, Kathryn and Melany and four great-grandsons. Bill worked for Honeywell Controls, S.A.I.T and Summit Engineering Controls Ltd., and was very involved with Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta.

MCA Canada's office will close for the holiday season at noon on December 23 and reopen on January 3. From all of us to all of you: Best wishes for a warm, happy and safe holiday season, and for an exciting and prosperous new year ahead. See you in 2017!
