Efficiency Matters On The Hill

MCA Canada is a member of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Coalition (CEEA), which is following up on last year's hugely successful advocacy day on Parliament Hill and is preparing to spark Ottawa again this November with its newly named event Efficiency Matters on the Hill. All members are invited to participate and mark their calendars for a dinner on Nov. 17 and a full day of meetings with Canada's decision-makers on Nov. 18.

A block of rooms at the Lord Elgin Hotel is available at a preferred rate of $159/$179 per night. To book call 1-800-267-4298 or 613-235-3333 or email reservations@lordelgin.ca and reference Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance. This rate remains available until Oct. 18.

On July 7, CEEA representatives participated in three meetings in Ottawa with senior government officials from National Defence, Natural Resources Canada, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Foreign Affairs & International Trade Development Canada.  CEEA was well received at each meeting and was asked for further input and follow-up.

Finance Submission
In preparation for this fall, CEEA filed a Submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance as part of its pre-budget 2014 consultations. It outlines three key points:
•    CEEA and the role it plays
•    The importance of energy efficiency to the national agenda
•    A recommendation that the Government of Canada continue to recognize energy efficiency as an essential part of Canada's national agenda by maintaining the Office of Energy Efficiency within Natural Resources.

Preparations continue for this year's Efficiency Matters on the Hill. Information regarding sponsorship opportunities will be available shortly.
