In Memoriam: Barry Cousins

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Barry was born on August 31, 1939 at the Calgary General Hospital. He graduated from Crescent Heights High School and remained in Calgary his entire life. In addition to raising and loving his large family, Barry and Connie looked after over 100 foster children during a period of over 20 years while being involved in the Alberta foster care program.

Barry spent his entire adult working career at Crane Supply and made many friends throughout his fifty years working in the plumbing and HVAC industry. Barry was an avid Stampeders fan his entire life and always enjoyed weekends in the mountains camping with Connie and his family. He enjoyed golfing with his sons and friends and took great pleasure in his gardening skills as he always had the nicest yard in the community.

Although Barry didn't grow up with a father around, he always put his family first and provided all of his children with love and support throughout his time with us. Barry is survived by the love of his life and his best friend Connie; his sister Marilyn (Bill); children, Barry (Jackie), Kim (Paula), Chris (Breanne), Jodie (Mike), Dean; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

There will not be any service, but should friends or family wish to pay their respects, please consider a donation directly to the Prostate Cancer Centre, c/o Rockyview General Hospital, 6500 – 7007 14 Street SW, Calgary, AB T2V 1P9, www.prostatecancercentre.ca.
