Technical Update — Mike Gibson

1. The LMI Task Group: Working Group as a subcommittee of the task group. Using all the existing guidelines for TG management (all TG members are invited to participate per normal TG rules), we can now work on multiple profiles in parallel in a more effective manner. Each Working Group is focused on a single type of device. The profile(s) that are impacted by that type of equipment is developed by the working group members with the full reporting of the LMI task group, however by identifying key WG scope, members and activities, it allows the task group to have several profiles under development at the same time.

2. To manage the profile development process and to enable the working group concept, we are utilizing a Web-based collaboration tool. This tool allows us to share files in a repository, assign To Do’s to WG members, schedule events and provides a discussion board for collaboration on topics working through the profile development process. We are trying out this format in the AFS group first. After the process is refined, we expect to roll it out to the other LMI Task Groups as well. We are preparing for what is expected to be a growth in profile development in 2015. LonMark 2.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) marketplace will turn to the domain expertise within LMI task groups for profile development, enabling even more smart connected IIoT devices.
