Top Hardware and Home Improvement RetailersHonoured from across Canada

Suppliers and retailers from across Canada gathered to honour the retail home improvement industry’s best retailers. The occasion was the 33nd Annual Outstanding Retailer Awards, presented during a gala dinner at the annual Hardlines Conference. The event was held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

Retailers were honoured in eight categories covering the range of retail hardware and home improvement formats. This year’s winners were:

  • Best Hardware or Paint Store – Richardson’s Home Hardware, Nipawin, Sask. Theresa Chalus and Dustin Chalus, Owners. Award sponsored by the National Hardware Show. 
  • Best Building Supply or Home Centre under 15,000 square feet – Pike’s Home Hardware Building Centre, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L. Greg and April Pike, Owners. Award sponsored by Jeld-Wen.
  • Best Building Supply or Home Centre over 15,000 square feet – Lauremat Inc. (Groupe EvoX), Sept-Îles, Quebec. Larry Scanlan and Patrick Scanlan, Owners. Award sponsored by ACCEO Solutions.
  • Pro Dealer of the Year –  Adams Building Supply (Castle Building Centres Group), Woodstock, Ont. Jamie Adams and Tasha Birtch, Owners. Award sponsored by Johns Manville. 
  • Best Large Surface Retailer – RONA+ Mascouche, Mascouche, Quebec. Jonathan Ashton, Manager. Award sponsored by JRTech Solutions.
  • Retail Spirit Award – Brooks Building Supplies (Sexton Group), Rosetown, Sask. Devon Brooks and Kelsey Brooks, Owners. Award sponsored by Dupont.
  • Young Retailer of the Year – Carrie Ann Gagne, Gagne TIMBER MART, Beachburg, Ont. Award sponsored by Saint-Gobain. 
  • Marc Robichaud Community Leader – BMR Avantis Montmagny, Montmagny, Quebec. Manager, Dany Boucher. Award sponsored by Trex.

The winners were carefully chosen from a field of high-quality nominees submitted from every part of Canada. The winners stood out within this elite group thanks to their ability to exceed in the areas of good business practices, customer relations, innovation, and niche marketing.
