Castle’s Support for the Quebec Independent Grows
Castle has announced that Richard Hamel will join their Business Development Team in the Eastern Quebec and Northern New Brunswick Region.

Richard, who brings extensive experience to this role, has spent his entire career in the building supply industry. As the region continues to grow, Richard will share the responsibilities with Castle’s current Business Development Manager in this territory.

This hire further solidifies Castle’s commitment to its membership in Quebec and Northern New Brunswick, and the addition of Richard will enhance the opportunity in this dynamic and flourishing market.

Castle expands in Western Canada
Castle continues to grow their membership in Western Canada with the announcement today of their newest member location in Thorsby, Alberta. Ruhr Valley Lumber will proudly serve the community as the newest Castle Building Centres location.

Ruhr Valley Lumber is located in Thorsby, about 45 minutes outside of Edmonton. Founder Matthew Ruhr grew up in the area and spent many of his adolescent years studying carpentry with his grandfather. This sparked his passion for the building materials industry and, before founding Ruhr Valley Lumber, he spent years working in retail home improvement further enhancing his experience and building material knowledge.

“We chose Castle because their transparency and flexibility stood out from the other groups. The diversity of the buying program enables us to compete with the big box stores and access to the product assortment we need to be competitive. Flying the Castle banner in the town of Thorsby will create a deeper connection with the local community and it gives us the freedom to run the business our way.” Matthew Ruhr, Owner

The Ruhr Valley staff and management team is looking forward to bringing new business and opportunity to the Thorsby area. The full-service lumber, building material and hardware centre will serve the community and surrounding area with plans for a grand opening celebration in the late spring.

“Entrepreneurs like Matthew march to the beat of their own drum. Conforming to corporate structures, rigid restraints and antiquated programs, just won’t work. At Castle, our members have the freedom to express their brand’s individuality and make decisions that suit their business without pressure or limitation.” Ken Jenkins, President
