Winner of AQMAT’s Prestigious Prix Patrimoine in recognition of a family business

In front of more than 500 people, representing the Quebec’s hardware and building materials industry, Roland Boulanger & Cie Ltee. was awarded the prestigious Prix Patrimoine from the Quebec Hardware and Building Materials Association (AQMAT) at its annual Gala Reconnaissance in Quebec City this past February 18th.

The award honours family tradition in the hardware and building materials industry, celebrating businesses where two or more generations work together. For the Boulanger Group, belonging to this exclusive club of third-generation family businesses is the perfect way to kick off its 75th year in business.

Boulanger credits its success in large part to the unwavering loyalty its customers have demonstrated over the decades, beginning with its flagship product, mouldings. "For the last 75 years, everyone our team, whether their last name is Boulanger or not, has been living and breathing mouldings," says Alexis Boulanger, the company’s current president. "Boulanger is really like one big family. We love our staff, we love our customers and we love our industry."

The Boulanger Group in 2017
The Boulanger Group has grown over the decades to become an industry flagship among manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of building materials, both in Quebec and Canada as well as in the U.S.
Many of the Group’s customers are leading building supply retailers. The remainder belong to the industrial sector, working in the furniture, kitchen cabinet, door & window, pre-fab home and casket industries.

Boulanger’s current portfolio of products extends well beyond mouldings and now also includes exterior wood siding (Warwick Collection), Embassy ceilings, 100% recycled plastic deck boards and edge-glued pine boards. The Group boasts a North America-wide distribution network and a staff active of the company’s 400 employees work either in one of the Group’s locations in its various locations in Warwick, Daveluyville, Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton and Saint-Germain-de-Grantham (Centre-du-Québec), Woburn (Estrie), Saint-Ferreol-les-Neiges (near Quebec City) and Orange (Massachusetts).

Still going strong...
Alexis Boulanger says the future looks bright for the Boulanger Group. "Boulanger is a strong supporter of authenticity, creativity, audacity and even non-conformity," he says. "We may be a bit hard-headed at times, but we always work from the heart and with our sleeves firmly rolled up. For us, it’s all about working together as a team and most importantly, succeeding together."
