Home Hardware Stores Limited congratulates Walter J. Hachborn, Co-Founder of Home Hardware Stores Limited, on his induction into the Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame last Thursday at a ceremony in Kitchener. Returning from a three-year hiatus, the Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame was originally created by the Prosperity Council and hosted by Communitech from 2006-2012.

"We are excited to celebrate Waterloo Region’s spirit of entrepreneurship and business excellence by reviving the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame," said Karen Gallant, President & CEO of JA Waterloo Region. "Youth involved in JA’s entrepreneurship programs are fortunate to have role models such as these individuals to learn from."

Over the course of his almost 80 year career, Walter dedicated his life to a vision of helping Canadians grow their businesses while maintaining individual ownership. His leadership and entrepreneurialism have had tremendous impact on the national hardware industry and the survival of the independent home improvement retailer in Canada.

"Walter’s innovation, hard work and commitment have led him to be recognized by many as a true Canadian business legend," says Terry Davis, CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "Walter’s reach extends past just Home Hardware - he has influenced the Canadian hardware industry as a whole."

The award was accepted by Terry Davis, CEO of Home Hardware Stores Limited on behalf of Walter Hachborn. Walter joins some of the region’s most well-known business leaders, including Savvas Chamberlain, Jim Balsillie, Mike Lazaridis, A.R. Kaufman, Oscar Kuntz, The Lang Family, The Piller Family, Ron Schlegel, Carl A. Pollock, Fred Stork and Joseph Seagram.
