The 2012 Home Hardware Tough as Nails Contractor Tradeshows kicked off in Peterborough on January 16th. An annual invitation-only event connecting Home Hardware Building Centre’s suppliers with contractor customers from across Canada, this year’s six tradeshows will be held in Peterborough, Sudbury, Waterloo, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Moncton. The 5,000 contractors who are invited to the shows represent approximate $310 million in annual business in their local economies.

"With over 507 Home Hardware Building Centre and Home Building Centre locations across Canada, we strive to be the destination of choice for contractor customers. The Tough as Nails Contractor Tradeshow is a must-attend event for contractors every year," said Bruce White, Vice-President, Merchandise & Marketing – Lumber and Building Materials, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "These shows are a great way for Home to reinforce with our contractor customers that we provide superior customer service and quality products at competitive prices."

Home Hardware Building Centre dealers arrange to bus contractors in from the surrounding area, with some coming from hundreds of kilometres away. The Tough as Nails Contractor Tradeshow gives contractors the chance to learn about the latest trends in hardware, tools and building materials, and includes hands-on demos, exhibitor booths, and the opportunity to ask expert questions while networking with other pro-contractors, renovators and tradespeople.

"Everyone loves a little healthy competition, so every year at the Tough as Nails Contractor Tradeshow we hold our legendary Contractor Skills Competition," said White. "The tradeshow is a great way to cut loose and have some fun. The contractors receive free products, a free meal and the chance to win great prizes, including a Toyota truck."
